You must be at least 18 years of age to obtain your CDL. However, CDL drivers under the age of 21 are prohibited from operating Commercial Motor Vehicles operating in INTERSTATE Commerce. Drivers under 21 are allowed to operate CMVs in INTRASTATE commerce only. Please contact us for more information or clarification.
Pegasus CDL, Inc. requires your SS number to enroll you in the CDL program. Additionally, your Social Security card must be presented to DOL in order to obtain your CDIP (Commercial Driver Instruction Permit). If you have misplaced your card, you must re-apply for your SS card at the Social Security office. This office will issue you a letter which will allow you to obtain your CDIP.

Obtain On-Line or go to your local DOL office and obtain a copy of your current MVR (Drivers Abstract). Most companies are looking for clean driving records. You can obtain your CDL with a poor driving record, but may have difficulty in finding employment. Reputable employers are looking for driving records with no more than 2 moving violations within the last two years, no DUI within the last 5 years. Please contact us if you have any questions.
If you will be receiving funds from Worksource, DVR, or L&I, please have your counselor or account representative contact us to reserve your place in our class. If you will be paying for the program (self pay), please contact us to complete the application and pay $100.00 deposit to hold your spot in the class. We will also want to review your driving record at this time.
You must take a NIDA drug test at WHATCOM OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH, 3010 Squalicum Pkwy, Bellingham, WA 98225, (360) 734-8771. Results will be submitted to Pegasus CDL, Inc. Drug tests must be administered no earlier than 30 days prior to the start of your class. Please be advised that under FMCSR (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations), Part 382, you will also be placed on the random drug testing program for Pegasus CDL..
Schedule your DOT physical. If you have current health insurance, it may be free. Most health insurance providers will allow 1 wellness physical per year at no cost. Contact your your doctor to see if this is an option for you as soon as possible. The DOT Physical MUST be performed by a doctor listed in the FMCSA national registry: https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/national-registry-certified-medical-examiners-search

HAZ MAT REGULATIONS
You must enroll in the Pegasus CDL, HAZMAT training program in order to add this endorsement to your CDL. Prior to obtaining your HAZ MAT endorsement, you must pass a TSA (Transportation Safety Administration) background investigation. Please visit the TSA website to see if you qualify for this endorsement.

To obtain your permit, you must pass the GENERAL KNOWLEDGE written exam at DOL. We will cover that material in the first 40 hours of classroom. After you pass Pegasus CDL, Inc.'s on-line practice tests, you will be able to pass at DOL and obtain your permit.
